License Verify API is not a consumer reporting agency (“CRA”) as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. (“FCRA”), and the data we return is not a consumer report. We do not assemble or evaluate consumer information for the purpose of furnishing consumer reports, and we have not undertaken the obligations the FCRA imposes on consumer reporting agencies.
You may not use this service, in whole or in part, as a factor in establishing an individual's eligibility for:
Verifying that a credential a professional holds is currently in good standing with the issuing board, as part of credentialing, payer enrollment, network participation, compliance monitoring, or vendor due diligence, is a permitted use. Using the same lookup to decide whether to hire, fire, or promote someone is not. If you need FCRA-compliant background screening, use a consumer reporting agency.
These Terms govern your access to and use of the License Verify API service at licenseverificationapi.com, including the REST API, the web dashboard, and any signed verification certificates (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or issuing an API request you agree to these Terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it.
The Service mirrors license rosters and registries published by state licensing boards and federal agencies. Every response carries a provenance block naming the source, the date the source published the data (data_as_of), and when we retrieved it.
A response states what the named source reported as of that date. It is not an independent judgment about a person, their competence, or their fitness for any role, and it is not a guarantee that the source was correct or current at the moment you read it. Boards correct, backdate, and republish records. Where the consequences of being wrong are material, confirm against the board directly.
A not_found result means we hold no matching record in the roster we have for that profession and state. It is not an assertion that no such license exists.
Subject to these Terms, you may query the Service and use the results within your own application or internal compliance workflow, and you may retain and share individual results and signed certificates as records of a verification you performed.
You may not:
Each plan includes a monthly verification volume. Paid plans that exceed their included volume are not billed for overage and are not cut off; requests continue to be served at a reduced rate until the next monthly reset. Free-plan accounts stop at their included volume until the next reset or an upgrade.
We may change plan pricing, included volumes, rate limits, and feature entitlements. Where a change affects a paid plan you are already on, we will give reasonable notice before it applies to your next billing period. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law.
A verification certificate is a signed, timestamped record that, at the moment of issue, the named source reported the stated license status. Its signature proves the record has not been altered since we issued it. It does not extend the scope of the underlying statement, and it does not become less time-bound by being signed: a certificate issued in March asserts what was true in March.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, that source data will be complete or current, or that coverage for any profession or state will be maintained.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data.
We may suspend or terminate access that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms, particularly the FCRA restriction or the bulk-extraction and redistribution prohibitions. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above, and continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
