After creating a free account, open your dashboard and generate a key under "API Keys". Each key is prefixed sk_live_ and authenticates requests via the Authorization: Bearer header. You can create, rename, and revoke keys at any time.
Send a GET request to /api/v1/verify with profession, state, and license_number query parameters and your sk_live_ key in the Authorization header. The response returns the license status (active, expired, suspended, not_found, or not_supported) along with the expiry date and holder name when the source board provides them.
Email is supported on all plans. License monitors also deliver HMAC-signed webhooks to your own endpoint - add and test them under Dashboard > Webhooks.
Verifications are cache-first. When we hold a recent canonical record within its freshness window (30 days for medical, 14 days for nursing, 7 days for contractor) we return it in well under a second; otherwise we fetch live from the source board. Every response includes last_verified_at and cache_age_hours so you know exactly how current the data is.
The free tier includes 500 requests per month. Developer ($29/mo) includes 5,000, Growth ($99/mo) includes 25,000, Scale ($349/mo) includes 150,000, and Enterprise is unlimited with an SLA. Successful lookups count toward your quota whether or not the license is found - you pay for lookups, not outcomes.
Visit the Upgrade page from your dashboard or settings. Stripe handles the upgrade flow and prorates the difference for the remainder of your billing cycle.
